We contacted Brigitta when we rescued a little Romanian dog and were having some issues. He was very anxious and scared of my girlfriends son. He would chase him round the house snarling, barking, growling and snapping. Even if he heard him move upstairs it would set him off and he would go wild. We had to keep him on a lead at all times and away from her son and were at our wits end. We almost rehomed our little Basil until Brigitta came around! Within a few weeks the barking and growling stopped, and very slowly but surely he came around to her son. Letting him feed him, walk him, even stroke him! Now, they sleep in bed together, play fight, cuddle on the sofa, he greets him with kisses and a wagging tail when he sees him. We can’t believe the difference and it’s all thanks to Brigitta! Without her, we would have rehomed our boy. We still work really closely with Brigitta, she comes to see Basil & help us out. Spending time with him and giving us advice on any issues or questions we have. I don’t know what we’d do without her, she is a life saver! I cannot recommend her enough, especially for rescue dogs with anxiety/aggression/behavioural issues. She has so much knowledge and understanding of dogs and can pick up on even the smallest signals to help make your dog feel so much more comfortable and help yourselves with the stress these situations can cause! xxx

I had an online assessment and session with Brigitta to discuss approaches to help build confidence in my nervous/reactive GSD Bosnian rescue Pasha. I found Brigitta easy to talk to, understanding and non-judgemental. She gave me plenty of practical advice and guidance to start applying with Pasha and I’ve already seen improvements. She is extremely knowledgeable, especially about rescues. I won’t hesitate to book another session in future if a top-up is needed :)

We reached out to Brigitta for some help for our 2 year old Dachshund Basil. He was having some anxiety issues and his barking was getting a bit out of hand! Brigitta helped us build a tailored training plan for Basil and gave us lots of very useful advice. We have seen a great improvement in Basil and we feel so much more confident taking him out to busy public spots now. Brigitta has been on hand every step of the way and we cant recommend her enough! A huge thank you from Gina, Oliver & Basil

Brigi has been amazing with our reactive dog. She understands dog body language so well and confirmed that my dog was frustrated rather than scared and provided a training plan that has worked so well for us. I'd definitely recommend! We'll be having a 2nd session soon to build up on the progress we've already made.

We have so much to thank you for. You came into our home and you didn’t see two badly behaved dogs and bring a text book of ideas to fix them with. You saw them for the complex individuals they are and you immediately honed in on their personality, their concerns and their needs and provided us with a short and long term plan. The first day you came to us I felt like I had an interpreter in the room! When I spoke to my vet about our plan she said immediately, you’ve found a good behaviourist, I can see. When progress was slow, you didn’t press to move to the next stage, instead you allowed us the time and afforded us the support whenever we asked while we tried to just get used to living peacefully. We’ve come so far and I no longer need to worry about whether we will be ok or not because I know we will be. Thanks, Sharon, Ralph and Dennis

We contacted Brigitta at Poochology after adopting our Romanian rescue dog and from the first moment she’s been great. She’s given us great advice and guidance and has always been responsive to our (many!) questions along the way. We would highly recommend Brigi to anyone!

Brigi helped me with my new Romanian rescue an awful lot. He's now a lot more settled in the house, we addressed his separation anxiety and reactivity outside on walks. More so, she gave me some good tips for my own anxiety!

Brigitta is great, she has really helped us with our new rescue dog over the past few months. She has really helped him settle and start his training. Would highly recommend. Always on hand to reply to any questions in between sessions too.

Brigitta has gone above and beyond to help us with our very anxious chihuahua Luna. The training plan given to us after our first session was very easy to follow and gave us a real insight into what is best for Luna. We then had a session every 3/4 weeks with Brigitta to discuss what went well from the last plan so that we could build upon breaking down Luna's anxiety in certain situations. We have found that after all of the sessions that we now have a lot of great information and tools to use to continue to help Luna with her anxiety and we now have the knowledge to do this in a very dog lead way which makes Luna a lot happier. Brigitta has also helped us with knowledge on training our puppy Ruby so we have been able to give her the best start in life and she has really improved over the last few months. We know that both dogs are going to be much happier in the future after working with Brigitta.

Brigi has helped us hugely with our dog Olive. Olive is a reactive Greek rescue dog, the same breed as Brigi's own dog. Brigi has taught us lots about how to read Olive's body language and given us a personalised behaviour modification programme to follow to help with Olive's reactivity. I feel heard and that she understands Olive's behaviour. We've had feedback, encouragement and changes/progressions as we've been following the programme. The recommendations have been realistic for us to follow. I would recommend Poochology to anyone that needs help to understand their dog. Brigi's knowledge and experience with street dogs and reactive dogs is invaluable. Thank you, Brigi!

Frequently Asked Questions

I don’t currently offer services for general puppy training. However, I can help you if you have an adolescent pup that needs behavioural help.

Absolutely. I’m more than happy to cooperate with other professionals, should the case require me or others to step in. I also work with veterinarians when behavioural medicine is needed to aid behaviour modification.

Separation related distress in dogs is a speciality in itself within the field of dog training. I currently do not offer services for owners whose dog(s) suffer from SA – if you need help, I recommend you find someone who specialises in this area. Check out Julie Naismith, who is well known for helping dogs with SA.

If you still want to work with me, we have a couple of different options:

  1. home visits are possible if you still live within a reasonable distance (extra travel costs apply)
  2. I offer video consultations depending on the nature of the case

I work with dogs that are often referred to as ‘reactive dogs’ – I speacialise in working with dog to dog or dog to human reactivity/aggression, fear aggression, generalised anxiety and panic disorders, problems with visitors (territorial behaviours and/or anxiety), resource guarding (food, toys, furniture etc.) and intrahousehold aggression.

It depends on your insurance. I hold various qualifications in dog behaviour and training, as well as a BSc in Psychology and Animal Behaviour. Typically, your veterinarian would need to fill out a referral form which can be used for your claim – if you need a referral form for your vet, please get in touch here.
